World's first 3D printed hotel welcomes guests in the Texas desert
A unique El Cosmico hotel is operating in the Texas desert. It is the world's first 3D-printed hotel.
This ambitious project is being realized by leading 3D printed architecture company Icon in collaboration with renowned architecture firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). Using Icon's proprietary Vulcan 3D printing system, builders create the basic structures, after which specialists come in to complete the work - installing roofs, windows and wiring.
El Cosmico sits on more than 60 acres of land on the outskirts of Marfa and includes camping areas, vacation homes, and several permanent residences built for sale with prices starting at $2,290,000
The project features curved forms and domed structures inspired by the surrounding landscape. In addition to the main buildings, tent areas, a central pool and other recreational spaces are planned. The El Cosmico expansion is scheduled for completion in 2026.
