Turntable Labs has received $8.2 million in seed funding
Turntable Labs, a company based in Miami, Florida, behind the new social music platform Hangout, has raised $8.2 million in seed funding. The round was led by Founders Fund, Elizabeth Street Ventures, 468 Capital, and f7 Ventures, with the participation of angel investor Michael Guimarin.
Created by Joseph Perla, Turntable offers Hangout, a music platform that integrates social media at its core. Virtual DJ booths allow users to play their selected tracks for themselves and their friends, as well as public rooms based on their interests.
Customized avatars can dance on the virtual dance floor, upvoting their favorite songs, while chat features keep the party going by encouraging new and old connections.
