Siemens Gamesa has set a new world record by unveiling a prototype of its colossal wind turbine at the Esterild test field in Denmark. The device, called SG DD-276, reaches 276 meters in height and has a capacity of 21.5 MW.
The wind turbine will be able to power 70,000 homes in Denmark for a year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 55,454 tons during its lifetime. The project has already received financial support of €30,000,000 from the European Union under the Highly Innovative Prototype of the Most Powerful Offshore Wind (HIPPOW) initiative
