China has launched an affordable three-wheeled scooter for urban commuting

Doufeng Vehicle Co. Ltd. has introduced a new S1 110 three-wheeled scooter with a convertible top. There are 2 variants - internal combustion engine and electric.
The internal combustion engine model is equipped with a single-cylinder motor with a displacement of 110 cc and 9 hp (6.5 kW). Its price is $1,550. The electric version, awaiting market launch, will cost $1,400 and provide a range of up to 80 kilometers on a single charge.
The S1 110 has 2 front wheels and a multi-link suspension system. The MLF (Multi-Link Suspension) allows for a 22 degree tilt angle. This setup allows one wheel to move independently of the others thanks to a frame made up of multiple links. The dimensions of the scooter are 2,010 mm in length, 760 mm in width and 1,760 mm in height. The seat height is 750 mm, curb weight is 137 kg and wheelbase is 1,330 mm. It also features a USB port, keyless start system, LED lighting, high windshield wipers and a functional roof.
Doufeng plans to offer a more expensive lithium-ion battery version for $1,650, which will be lighter and equipped with traction control.
