Australian startup releases hurricane-resistant hammock tent
Startup Thecatal has unveiled its latest innovation, a hammock tent that sets up in seconds and can withstand hurricane-force winds. It is called Wind Anchor.
As the manufacturer promises, it takes 10 to 60 seconds to set up. The tent has a unique semi-conical shape with a diamond-shaped floor, which makes it aerodynamic and wind resistant. Thecatal claims that the tent can withstand winds up to 12 on the Beaufort scale.
To ensure good ventilation, the Wind Anchor features 6 vents and 2 large mesh doors with hinged storm flaps. Despite its single-wall construction, the tent is made of waterproof breathable material, which prevents condensation inside.
Its dimensions are 28*10*10 cm and its weight is 1 kg. The Wind Anchor has a specially provided storage space for shoes. It also protects from UV rays, and if desired, the tent can be hung as a hammock.
The Wind Anchor is available on Kickstarter for $249 in its basic configuration
