Pirelli and Bosch create smart tires with real-time data transfer
Pirelli and Bosch have entered into an agreement to jointly develop a software-controlled system. This project aims to create smart tires capable of transmitting data to the vehicle, which will optimize handling and improve safety on the road.
The Cyber Tyre concept, first unveiled in 2019, uses tire data to adjust vehicle functions based on driving conditions. Each will be equipped with an integrated sensor that connects to the vehicle's electronics. It will allow real-time adjustments to the settings. Key features include optimizing the ABS braking system and improving traction control.
There are also plans to use MEMS technology and BLE wireless communication to collect and transmit low-power tire condition data. Cyber Tyre is expected to not only improve safety and comfort, but also reduce tire wear, which will have a positive impact on the environment.
The timing of the technology's release to the passenger car market has not yet been specified.
