Researchers from Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU) have unveiled a new amphibious drone called Nezha-SeaDart. It is capable of not only flying but also diving underwater. It is equipped with 4 propellers for aerial flight and 8 underwater motors for underwater navigation. Nezha-SeaDart can vertically take off like an e-VTOL, fly like an airplane and dive “pike” into the water. Nezha-SeaDart has already successfully completed a 10-day test on the Qiandaohu Thousand Islands Lake in Zhejiang Province, demonstrating its ability to seamlessly cross land, sea and air. According to the authors of the project, the vehicle can be used in marine research, search and rescue and military reconnaissance operations.
