Inside Elon Musk's xAI Colossus: The World's Largest AI Supercomputer
xAI Colossus, Elon Musk's groundbreaking AI supercomputer, has been unveiled as the world's largest AI cluster, specifically designed to train the Grok chatbot, a rival to ChatGPT.
The supercomputer currently hosts exabytes of storage and 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs, worth around $3 billion. By year-end, plans include doubling the GPU count with the addition of advanced H200 units, and by summer 2025, tripling the total.
Musk claims xAI Colossus is the most powerful AI solution available today. Remarkably, the entire project was completed in just 122 days—a fraction of the time typically required to assemble such large-scale supercomputers
