German Startup OroraTech Secures €25M to Expand AI Wildfire Detection System
Munich-based OroraTech raised €25 million to scale its AI-driven wildfire detection solution, which uses data from its own satellites and over 20 others. The funding round was led by Korys, with support from the EU’s Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF) and Bayern Kapital.
OroraTech aims to expand globally and further develop its technology. Currently, it helps predict and track wildfires, using AI to analyze satellite images. The company has launched two satellites and plans to grow its constellation to 100 by 2026. Recently, OroraTech secured a €20 million contract with Greece for a national wildfire warning system, set to go live in 2026.
OroraTech is part of a growing "firetech" sector, including companies like Dryad Networks and BurnBot, which focus on preventing and managing wildfires with innovative technology.
