Austria works on eVTOL with innovative CycloRotor engine

Austrian aviation company CycloTech has announced the development of a demo version of the eVTOL called the BlackBird. It will be equipped with an innovative CycloRotor propulsion system providing 360-degree thrust vectors.
The BlackBird will be equipped with 6 of these CycloRotors, allowing vertical takeoff and landing, as well as maneuvering in the air without tilt or roll. The eVTOL prototype will have a configuration of 6 rotors, including 2 along the entire length of the vehicle, which will provide precise lateral and reverse motion as well as smooth flight regardless of conditions. Adjustable pitch blades will allow instantaneous changes in thrust magnitude and direction.
With dimensions of 4.9 meters in length, 2.3 meters in width and 2 meters in height, the eVTOL will have a maximum weight of 340 kg and a speed of 120 km/h. CycloTech has not yet disclosed information about the BlackBird's capacity and range. However, it is planned to be close to the CruiseUp concept with a two-seater and a range of around 100 km.
The firm is expected to unveil its flying car by the end of this year and start test flights in early 2025
