The construction of a 5.2 GW solar power plant has begun in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. It is expected to take first place in the world solar energy rankings. The project is being implemented jointly by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) and Emirates Water and Electricity Company.

The uniqueness of this power plant is that it will be the world's first 24/7 solar photovoltaic installation connected to a battery energy storage system (BESS). This will allow the plant to supply electricity even at night and in bad weather conditions.

The new power plant in Abu Dhabi will require about 10,000,000 panels. The project includes a 5.2 GW solar power plant and a 19 GWh storage system. The facility will provide up to 1 GW of baseload power daily, which is enough to power 750,000 homes.

The new Masdar project is expected to require about 52.44 sq. km of territory is almost 10,000 football fields. The total cost of the project will be $6,000,000,000, and commissioning is scheduled for 2027
