Taiwan's first fully unmanned train is now in service
The country's first fully automated unmanned Metropolis train has started running in Taiwan. It was developed by specialists of the French company Alstom.
The train will carry out transportation between Taipei and New Taipei stations, covering a distance of 23 km in just 20 minutes at a speed of 100 km/h. The train consists of four 26-seat stainless steel cars. The train can carry up to 700 passengers at a time.
The train is equipped with the highest level GoA4 auto-driving system. The train is also equipped with state-of-the-art Urbalis communication and supervisory control systems (SCADA) to ensure safe and efficient traffic management.
The launch of the unmanned train was an important milestone in the construction program of the new Light Green Line connecting Wanda, Zhonghe and Shulin. Construction of the line took 10 years and cost Taiwan $1,720,000,000
