An interesting thing from the ’90s is Sony’s futuristic Glasstron cinema glasses, practically an ancestor of the Apple Vision Pro

They recreated the effect of a 52-inch TV from a distance of two meters, showing a picture of 800×600 dots – and it was considered very good.

And the coolest thing was that you could even connect them to a portable DVD player (remember such things?) and watch movies on the subway, plane or train.
