Shimano has been granted a patent for a wireless electronic bike shoe attachment system. It will automatically adjust the position of the shoe relative to the pedals while riding. The system uses sensor data to set the optimum forward, backward and sideways position of the shoe. Manual adjustment is also available. The shoes are equipped with a “regulator” with a reversible electric motor that moves them along the rails. The main battery is located in the pedal, providing wireless power for the shoes and the adjuster. The bicycle electric shoes are designed for both on- and off-road use. For now, this is only a patent. The release of the invention to the mass market has not yet been announced.
