Canadian company Wildfire Innovations has unveiled an innovative solution to protect communities from wildfires. The RainStream mobile water tower is capable of slowing the spread of fire until firefighters arrive. When not in use, the RainStream is placed on a trailer that can be conveniently transported by pickup truck. Once on site, the system deploys in 40 minutes. To start the water tower operation, a hose from the diesel pump must be connected to the nearest fire hydrant. A tank with diesel fuel ensures operation of the device for 40 hours. Once the pump is activated, the RainStream starts spraying water through the special nozzle on top of the tower. There are 2 modes available: circular with 360 degree rotation and fixed. The water jet creates a fog cloud covering an area from 3 to 8 hectares depending on the wind. It is planned that serial production of RainStream will begin this year. In the future, the devices will be able to be activated remotely
