New Zealand-based Robotics Plus has introduced Prospr, an electric autonomous spraying robot. It is designed to reduce emissions and herbicide use. Prospr is a four-wheel drive robotic unit equipped with a refillable spray tank and multiple spray fans. A built-in battery and diesel generator allow it to operate all day without recharging or refueling. The robot is controlled by GPS. It also uses LiDAR sensors and cameras to detect obstacles. In case of a collision, the front bumper stops the device. There is also an emergency stop button for safety. Users can adapt the number and types of spray fans and program the robot to apply different doses of herbicides and pesticides, which helps minimize chemical impact on the environment. Multiple units can be monitored via a control panel on a laptop or tablet. A unique steering mechanism allows the Prospr to pivot on the rear axle, which reduces the turning radius and makes it easier to move between rows of vines or trees. Unlike conventional tractors, this robot requires no hydraulic or transmission fluid changes. Prospr is already in active use in New Zealand, Australia and the USA.
