Google has developed a new format for pictures – Jpegli

It’s an updated version of JPEG. It is supposed to “make the Internet more beautiful and faster”.

Such images will weigh 35% less (respectively, and load faster), and the quality will be better.

The only thing left is to start using this format on a mass scale.
