Human-like robot Kepler Forerunner has become more flexible and has learned to carry boxes
Chinese company Kepler Robotics has unveiled a new version of its Gen 5.0 Forerunner K2 full-size humanoid robot. It has redesigned the outer panels of the body, limbs and head, and the total number of degrees of freedom has increased from 40 to 52.
Each arm now has 11 degrees of freedom and can lift up to 15 pounds, and the fingertips have flexible tactile sensors with 96 points of contact. A 2.33 kilowatt-hour battery provides up to eight hours of continuous use.
The new model has improved algorithms for perception, task planning, movement coordination and gait control, increasing the robot's speed and resilience.
