France has invented electric rollers with a battery belt
AtmosGear has introduced a unique electric roller skate. The battery for the device is attached to the user's waist.
A special feature of the design are the motor-wheels installed in the middle of each skate. They are powered by a 280Wh lithium-ion battery housed in a 1.5kg belt pouch. The rollers have a maximum speed of 29 km/h and a range of up to 26 km on a single charge. They can climb up to 15% gradients and support a user weight of up to 118 kg.
According to the developers, moving the battery to the belt makes the skates lighter and more maneuverable. It also reduces the risk of damage to the battery when hitting the pavement. The rollers are IP65 waterproof.
AtmosGear offers 2 options: frames that can be attached to third-party boots, and a full set with FRSkates boots. Both are available in black, white and yellow.
The roller skates are currently in development and are featured on the Kickstarter platform. The cost of pledging to get the frames is 630 euros, while the full set will cost already 770 euros
