Eco Wave Energy (EWP) has received final approval for its first onshore wave energy project in the United States. The installation, previously located in Gibraltar, will be relocated to the Port of Los Angeles. The project involves the installation of a series of floats on coastal infrastructure. When exposed to waves, they drive hydraulic pistons that pump fluid into a battery. This energy is then converted into electricity using a generator. The company is authorized to install 8 floats on the existing mooring structure at Los Angeles Municipal Pier 1. The installation is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of next year
