The world’s largest digital camera has been built in California

The car-sized behemoth weighs almost 3 tons and shoots at a resolution of 3.2 gigapixels (3200 megapixels) – even a golf ball can be seen from 25 kilometers away.

The camera will be installed on a telescope in Chile for astronomical observations: every night it will accumulate up to 15 TB of data, taking pictures every 20 seconds.
