China is preparing to send a six-legged insect robot to the moon
Shanghai University is developing droids for lunar exploration as part of China's national space program. They will include a new insect-like robot with six limbs.
The development has increased stability, payload capacity and smooth movements. According to the robotics developer from Shanghai Jiaotong University Gao Feng, the robot body has 3 pairs of limbs. When one side is lifted, the other 3 form a stable triangle-shaped support. This allows the robot to maintain its balance even if one of the legs is damaged.
The insect robot is currently being tested at the university
