China has launched the world's largest offshore solar power plant with a capacity of 1 GW
The plant is located 8 kilometers off the coast of Dongying, covers an area of more than 1,223 hectares and consists of 2,934 panels that will generate 1.78 billion kilowatt hours annually, enough to power 2.67 million homes.
The plant is said to save more than 503,000 tons of coal per year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.3 million tons
