These headphones are not designed for listening to music. They are designed for music to accompany you unobtrusively through life without interfering with your perception of reality.

The headphones do not block the ear canal in any way, but are only fixed like an earring around the ear cartilage.

Judging by the reviews, there’s no great sound quality to speak of: the headphones are too far away, and the drivers are so shallow that it’s very easy for bass to leak past.

There are no newfangled things like wireless charging or active noise modulation. The latter is especially unfortunate: ambient sound sometimes gets louder than the music. Perhaps, though, we should look at these headphones differently.

The earbuds will work for 7.5 hours on a single charge, there is IPX4 water protection. Bose Ultra Open Earbuds are available in two colors – black and white.

The price in the US is $299 before tax. And reviewers say that’s too much for a new headphone concept, so we’ve probably now seen the first and last such model.
