British adventurer Ben Kilner has combined a boat and a bicycle into one vehicle. He has crossed Scotland twice on it. The homemade amphibious device is called the Wee Hen. It is a hybrid of a wooden canoe and a three-wheel BMX. The vehicle has a wooden frame with a nylon skin, and features a 3-wheeled platform made from BMX and go-cart parts. The hybrid includes a 24-speed drivetrain, a pivoting mechanism for removable paddles and outriggers for stability on the water. The journey lasted 10 days, of which 2.5 days were spent on unforeseen repairs. Ben first paddled 97km on the Great Glen Canoe Trail on the water and then returned on the 126km Great Glen Way land trail. During the journey he slept in a tent and cooked his own food, with a total weight of 100 kg of gear. According to the author of the project, the adventure helped raise funds for A Leg to Stand On, a non-profit organization that provides children's prosthetics and mobility aids to developing countries. The initiative raised £3,788. Ben plans to continue his travels and create more interesting vehicle models
