A student, with the help of AI, assembled a thermonuclear reactor in his home in one month
Hudhaifa Nazurdin, a student at the University of Waterloo, built a thermonuclear reactor in his bedroom in just a few weeks. With no experience working with equipment, he used a neural network to complete the project in only four weeks. He described the process in his blog on the social media platform "X".
To start the reaction, Hudhaifa used a 12 kV neon sign transformer as the energy source. He used a pump and MKS-901p sensor to create a vacuum inside the main unit, which reduced collisions with background particles and allowed the ions to gain enough energy for fusion.
