A group of enthusiasts in the US has created a car powered by solar energy
A group of friends from the USA created a car powered by the sun and drove it across the country in a record 13 days, 15 hours and 19 minutes.
The car is called the Solar Wanderer. It is characterized by its unique design and elaborate construction. The car consists of a tubular frame, corrugated plastic, 3D-printed parts, a homemade 320-cell battery pack, 3 motors, 8 solar panels and 3 bicycle wheels.
The driver steers the car in a recumbent position using the gas pedal pedals, front brake, and a pair of handlebars for mountain bike brakes on the rear wheels. The car has a giant turning radius, so the car was manually repositioned when going around tight corners. Its weight is 254 kilograms.
Despite its limited speed, the Wanderer traveled 4,800 kilometers from New York to Los Angeles on a single charge. According to the authors of the project, it cost them about $12,000 to build the car
