Tidal Flight has presented the Polaris amphibious aircraft project, which has already attracted the interest of the American air carrier Tropic Ocean Airways. This unique seaplane can carry up to 12 passengers or 1 ton of cargo. It has a wingspan of 18 meters, 2 electric motors running on an environmentally friendly diesel-electric generator. According to the manufacturer, this allows to achieve impressive fuel savings of up to 85%.
One of the key advantages of the Polaris is its ability to take off and land on water surfaces. At the moment, the company is testing a scaled-down model of the seaplane in 1:6 scale. In the future, Polaris will be equipped with advanced batteries and hydrogen propulsion systems, which will further increase its efficiency.
Tropic Ocean Airways has already signed a preliminary contract with Tidal Flight for 20 aircraft worth $100 million. The first full-size model is expected to take to the air in 2027, with commercial operations beginning in 2030
