If you live in the Swiss municipality of Regensdorf, you may soon be receiving parcels delivered directly to your doorstep by a robot. Field trials are underway in this region, recently launched by Swiss Post, grocery delivery company Migros Online, and robotics firm RIVR.

In the new trials in Regensdorf, RIVR ONE robots will pick up customers in Swiss Post vans and then deliver individual Swiss Post parcels and Migros Online groceries directly from these vans. Although the robots will do this autonomously, they will be monitored by humans who can take control if necessary.

The video shows another stage of testing these same robots, but for delivering food orders from restaurants in Zurich
