Ant Group, best known as the operator of the Alipay payment service, has unveiled its first humanoid robot, Robbyant R1.

During the demonstration, R1 showed itself in the role of a kitchen assistant. The robot cooked shrimp and performed basic tasks with objects. Ant Group sees a wider range of applications for it: assistance in everyday life, work in the healthcare sector as a caregiver, as well as use in tourism, for example, as a tour guide. R1 is currently being tested in restaurants, public places, and community centers.

However, in practice, the robot is still slow. Even simple actions, such as placing a box on a counter, take a long time. The company has not specified the price of the device or when it will be released on the market.
