In Taiwan's Penghu archipelago, eVTOLs will be used as ambulances. The archipelago consists of several dozen islands, and 19 of them are inhabited.
Japanese company SkyDrive has partnered with local 7A Drones and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) for the initiative. The pilot project will include an air route connecting a hospital in Magong City to Hujing Island.
For this purpose, the first 10 eVTOL SkyDrive eVTOLs will be procured, which can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h and cover distances of 15 to 40 kilometers. According to experts, this is enough for flights between the islands.
At the moment, the devices will be used in manned mode, at least until the completion of all tests. However, the developers promise that in the future their eVTOLs will be able to transport up to 3 people in the unmanned version. This will allow for more efficient transportation of medics and patients
