CycloTech has successfully conducted the first flight test of its unusual flying car, the Blackbird, which was introduced in 2024. The prototype has already taken to the air, but there is still a long way to go before mass production begins.

The Blackbird weighs 340 kilograms and is only capable of hovering slightly in the air for now. In the future, the model will accommodate one passenger and a pilot, accelerate up to 150 km/h and travel up to 100 km on a single charge.

The main feature of the Blackbird are the cyclorotors - unique propulsion systems that the company has been working on since 2011. Each consists of barrel-shaped rotors with tilted blades that are constantly adjusted during rotation. This allows the car to efficiently control thrust and balance against the wind while hovering.

CycloTech plans to launch an extensive campaign to explore the potential of its engine. The Blackbird is expected to go into production in 2035
