Boston Dynamics and Toyota team up to train Atlas humanoid robots

Boston Dynamics and Toyota Research Institute (TRI) announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the development of versatile humanoid robots. This collaboration brings together advances in AI and robotics.
The main goal is to integrate TRI's large behavioral models with Boston Dynamics' Atlas robot. This will improve the manipulation skills and adaptability of humanoids, making them more functional in different environments. Atlas has already established itself as one of the most advanced humanoid platforms due to its mobility and manipulation abilities. TRI, on the other hand, is known for its developments in large behavioral models and generative AI, allowing for multifunctional and adaptive systems.
The companies' team of engineers will explore sensor capabilities, human-robot interaction, and safety issues. Atlas' collected performance data will be used to teach new skills and improve the functionality of humanoids.
According to the companies, this partnership promises to be an important step toward creating robots that can efficiently perform complex tasks and interact with humans in real time
